The Olympics Ends.

a post tt shall not be about my mundane activities.. haha.

so, the olympics have drawn to a close, in a multitude of fireworks and spectacular stunts and performances..

the event tt has kept me occupied for long periods of time, especially thru the studying for O&G is over! fortunately, there is the US Open to fill in this gap, as well as my new game, Top SPin 3! :) anyways, the past fortnight have been quite fantastic, filled with many thrilling moments. i love the adrenaline rush you get watching sports :)

for me, the olympics are really a celebration of humanity. it is truly inspirational to see how men are able to smash records, and push our atheletic achievements to the limit. the sheer toughness of these atheletes are mind boggling and very impressive.

it was truly inspirational to see the one and only phelps achieve his goal of 8 golds. i dun think we are gonna see an achievement like this in our lifetime again, and i am glad to have been able to witness this little bit of history. the man is truly one of a kind, humble yet confident. amazing accomplishment.


and of course, when it comes to breaking world records, who can forget bolt? the man who broke the record so far ahead of the competition he had time to do a little victory dance. this man is so flamboyant, and he is quite a joy to watch in some sense :) how he has been able to dominate his field so easily remains quite a mystery to me, but for someone the same age as me to be doing such great things while i am stuck here writing about it, i must say i feel like quite a loser. haha. but after feeling like a loser for a while, u begin to respect the guy, and feel inspired.

the last sport that i enjoyed watching the most, was gymnastics. it is such a fascinating sport. it is so easy to fall off the high bar, or the bang into the pommel, land on your knees while vaulting, etc! for me, this sport is all about mental strength. you could see in the high bar finals how many people got so scared to perform their routine, they increased their safety and thus decreased their difficulty. some fell anyway. but the man below didn't compromise.. with all the pressure on him, he performed. though i think he is not the most skilled, he ended up with one of the hardest routines because many others reduced their difficulty level, and he won! kudos to zou kai for having the guts to come out in the finals and do what it takes to win it.. :)

but really, i find gymnastics so nail biting to watch. to come back after falling off an apparatus and continue in front of so many people just requires sheer determination and guts..

The last 2 photos show the 2 pretty gymasts, shawn johnson and nastia liukin. i really enjoyed the great show they put up, and esp liukin who was so gracious after she got 2nd place with the exact same score in the uneven bars final. i think if i were in such a position, i wouldn't have displayed such good sportsmanship. haha.


lastly of course, i am proud to be chinese. these games have been hosted to almost perfection. the grandiosity and the precision that went around, it just gave beijing such a good account of itself. i remember in 2001 when beijing won the bid, i wasn't quite v happy. i was not sure if china would be able to pull it off. but now, i have seen that they have, and tt the games have also helped china to open, tt tiny little bit, and its certainly all for the better :)

I'm Back!

i'm finally back. haha. the arduous journey through obstetrics and gynae is over! well, it cummulated in a 2 hours plus clinically exam. 2 hours may seem really long, but when u are dashing from station to station in a pressure cooker station, time passes so fast. before u know it, its your last station!

the olympics have been a banger! woo, so many close finals in the gymnastics (women's, and men's but not for the top spot though), fencing, tennis, swimming, archery, weight lifting, and everything else! every sport is so fun to watch.. and atheletics just started, so exciting! :D and i am kinda proud of china for putting up such a good show, and i am amazed at how their atheletes have managed to cope with the immense pressure put on them. i am sure many lesser people would have crumbled in such a situation.

anyway, on to happier times during the posting, which i didn't have an opportunity to write about. this was on ian's birthday! we went to this tze char store for dinner at Zion Road.. the pumpkin prawn was absolutely delicious.. YUM.

i think this was the pork ribs, i failed to take picture of the pumpkin prawns. well i think i was too busy eating them.. haha. but they were really good. i think ian and i polished up the plate, removing every last bit of the sauce. hahaha

after a dinner which we gobbled down in less than an hour, we headed down to claire's house. we refused to let ian see his present, and i had to use a scrub to cover it.. -.-"

oh, and a present from tokyo. boobie jellies from claire!

and then we had some fun with the Wii! it was an extremely tiring night though.. after school, and after the adrenaline of playing Wii, you just feel extremely spent!

we then proceeded to the gift presentation :)

ok, this is rather uninspired writing i know.. but its being interrupted periodically, so i can't get any flow.

anw, we went to this place called smoking frog cafe. it was an outdoors kinda thing.. quite interesting the atmosphere.. however, the food is like v expensive botak jones..

the cake, which would've been really yummy had it been stored in a fridge by the staff.. it was a half melted pile of mousse when we got down to eating it. but it was still really good whether it was melted or not.. :)


after the surprise birthday celebration, we went to aud's place for some MJ!!


not before mich did some nasty things! hahaha

and after our mj session (with ty who felt sick and went home after the game), we went to jalan kayu for some prata BOMB!!


yes this is the BOMB! the man is damn funny, we asked what is prata bomb, and he said, "its very very nice. its a bomb!" and then he made this face and did a booom sound and flailed his arms around. LOL. and then we were laughing, and we asked him, "but what exactly is it", and he just repeated his actions. haha, amusing but not informative at all.


alrite, so this concludes a rather hasty and insubstatial post.. but there are too many things to be enjoying post exam other than blogging (cringe)

Yeah am feeling great now. Amazing what a little timely tennis or just exercise can do for you during e exam period :) yup, was basically decided on playing some tennis after seeing e sun shining in all its glory :p yes a rather purposeless post before I hit e books.
